Temporary halt to the Pay for Performance project

(05 November 2012)

The Pay for Performance project caused tremendous controversy and based on this Healthgrouper conducted a flash survey among doctors - specialists who are direct participants in this project. A total of 209 specialist doctors participated in the survey. They were asked four questions and were given the opportunity to elaborate on each answer in order to explain why gave such an answer. The survey produced the following conclusions: the project is not fair and does not properly evaluate the physicians’ work; it reflects extremely negatively on teamwork in healthcare facilities; it stimulates the performing of unnecessary check-ups in patients. Based on all of this the Ministry of Health had to pull, adjust and gradually implement the project thereby taking into consideration all negative comments.
