Healthgrouper Summit: When is it fair to say no?

The International Healthgrouper Summit project in cooperation with the Macedonian Medical Association, the Ministry of Health, the Health Insurance Fund, the World Health Organization for Europe, the Association of Albanian Physicians from Macedonia, organized the second health summit with international participation. The Summit experts in the presence of numerous stakeholders in the health system discussed approaches in setting priorities in medicine and public health.

The Healthgrouper Summit was opened by the Minister of Health Nikola Todorov, who emphasized the importance of organizing such an elite event in the Republic of Macedonia as well as the aspects and approaches discussed by eminent professors from Harvard and the Jewish University.

Professor Norman Daniels spoke on how good health is produced by society and pointed out a systematic approach to the question of why health is special, and what is our mutual responsibility as citizens towards health. Regarding the setting of priorities in public health, Professor Ted Tulchinski of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel also held a presentation and he addressed the issue on disease prevention, emphasizing vaccination. Christina Brown from the World Health Organization presented the priorities and directions that countries should focus on in order to deal with inequalities in terms of access to education, the impact of poverty, employment and other factors.

Maja Parnardzieva Zmejkova presented approaches to allocating the resources in the Macedonian health system. Dr. Vladimir Lazarevik, founder and president of Healthgrouper, stated that this summit made ​​a small contribution to the development of the scientific thought and approaches to solutions to the problems that burden the health systems.
